What is tuberculosis?
Tuberculosis is a serious bacterial infection, caused by Mycobacterium tuberculae bacteria. This disease usually affect lungs, though it may also infect the other parts of the body like spine, brain, intestines, etc. It is a highly contagious infection, that may easily spread from person to person by coming in contact with the droplets producing during a sneeze, cough or spit of the infected person. A person may need to inhale a few bacterias only to get infected.
It is believed that one quarter of the population have latent TB in their lungs. Most of them do not show any sign or symptom in their whole life, and do not transmit them to the others. Infected people have only 5-15% risk of falling ill in their whole lifetime.
If the infected person fall low in their immunity due to some reason or have conditions with compromised immunity, like in autoimmune diseases such as HIV, diabetes, malnourishment, or habit of smoking, are at higher risk for developing symptoms.
A person with active infection may take months to develop the symptoms like cough, fever, night sweats, weight loss, etc. Because of this, the diagnosis of TB is usually made late, making the patient infect many others around him till then.
Homeopathic treatment in the cases of tuberculosis is usually done with the constitutional medicines, which have capability of acting deep enough to get rid of the root cause of the disease. Dr Ashok Choudhary specializes in constitutional medicines, and is capable of giving full recovery to the patient in the most natural way.
The bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculae is responsible for causing tuberculosis. This disease is transmitted via infected droplets in the air, produced when the infected person

Most of the people who are infected with TB are not contagious, as they do not show any sign and symptoms. This is known as latent or inactive TB infection. People who have active disease are also not contagious if they have received the treatment for at least 2 weeks.
Sign and symptoms
Latent TB do not present with any symptoms and isn’t contagious. The active TB may present with symptoms like-
- Cough that may last three or more weeks
- Blood in the sputum
- Chest pain while coughing or breathing
- Unintentional weight loss
- Tiredness and fatigue
- Night sweats
- Loss of appetite
Tuberculosis can also affect other parts of the body, like kidneys, spine or brain. The sign and symptoms in such cases depend upon the part of the body involved, like spinal TB may present with symptoms like back pain, while TB in kidney may present with blood in the urine.
Tuberculosis can happen to anyone. But the risk factors may include-
- Weaker immune system, like in people with HIV, diabetes, kidney diseases, patients undergoing chemotherapy, receiving drugs to suppress immune system, like in organ transplant, etc.
- Travelling or living in areas that have higher rates of infections, like Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, Russia, Latin America, etc.
- People who are poor, and do not receive proper medical aids.
- Smoking and excessive alcohol abuse, that weakens immune system.
- Living in close contact with the infected person.
TB may cause complications like-
- Spinal pain
- Damaged joints
- Liver or kidney diseases
- Heart problems
Doctor may carefully perform physical examination by checking the swelling in the lymph nodes and using stethoscope to listen the sounds in the lungs.
The most common test to diagnose tuberculosis is the tuberculin test, in which a small amount of PDD tuberculin is injected just below the skin to check the amount of swelling on the injection site after 48-72 hours. The size of the swelling determines weather the person is suffering with TB or not.
Homeopathic approach in cases of tuberculosis is mostly constitutional. In constitutional mode of treatment, patient’s mental and emotional symptoms are also investigated carefully, along with the physical symptoms. The medicines chosen on this approach are very deep acting and reach the root cause of the disease, curing the condition permanently from their roots.
Dr. Ashok Choudhary specialises in this mode of treatment and provide his patients with rapid relief in the symptoms like cough, night sweats, fever, fatigue, etc, along with treating the root cause of the disease.
