What is libido?
Sigmund Freud, who is considered as the father of psychology, coined and defined the term libido as “the energy, regarded as the quantitative magnitude…of those instincts which have to do with all that may be compromised under the word ‘love’”. Meaning libido is the energy or force, a fundamental instinct of all human beings. It is an individual’s sexual desire for sexual activity. Libido is associated with sex hormones in the body, and are influenced by biological, psychological and social factors.
